All programs at the Staunton Public Library, whether sponsored by the Library or by community groups, are open to all and offered at no charge. The Library welcomes people of all abilities. Please alert us at least 5 days in advance if there is a need for accommodation.

Food may be served during some library programs; contact us if you have questions or concerns.

Library events may be photographed and recorded for promotional materials for the City of Staunton and City-approved third parties.

Craft & Art Supply Swap with Art Hive

 Need to purge post-holidays? Drop off your swappable craft items in good, usable condition at the library Thursday and Friday, then come to the main event on Saturday.

Craft Item Drop Off: Thurs. - Fri., Jan. 8-9 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Swap day! Sat., Jan. 10, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. 

All donated items must be clean and usable. Please make sure items are packaged neatly and labeled, if necessary.

Items in good condition may be dropped off at the library Reference Desk on Thursday Jan. 8and Friday, Jan. 9, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.. Do not put swap items in the book drop or leave them outside the building. The swap will be open to the general public on Saturday, Jan. 10, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the 2nd floor meeting room. Art Hive will provide an activity for kids at 11 a.m..

To ensure all can benefit, we will have a two-bag take-home limit per person (bags include plastic or paper grocery bags, reusable tote bags, etc). Any items remaining then will be offered to area non-profits or schools.

Kids are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Suggested items for Craft Supply Swap:
• Yarn and ribbon
• Fabric and felt
• Knitting needles, crochet hooks, stitch counters, etc.
• Needlework kits (counted cross stitch, embroidery, etc.)
• Embroidery/needlework supplies (hoops, floss, aida fabric, etc.)
• Sewing notions (thread, trim/binding, zippers, buttons, etc.)
• Rubber stamps, useable ink pads, embossing tools/heat tools
• Scrapbooking or card-making supplies, scrapbook embellishments
• Paper and cardstock for card-making/scrapbooking
• Beads and beading supplies
• Jewelry making supplies and tools
• Useable art paints and brushes
• Canvases
• Pencils and pastels
• Art paper, drawing pads
• Silk flowers/florals/greenery and foam cores/shapes arrangements
• Decorative containers/baskets for floral arrangements
• Patterns: clothing, doll clothing, home décor
• Small wood cutouts, unpainted
• Picture frames (empty), framing supplies
• Craft fun foam sheets or shapes
• Stencils
