All programs at the Staunton Public Library, whether sponsored by the Library or by community groups, are open to all and offered at no charge. The Library welcomes people of all abilities. Please alert us at least 5 days in advance if there is a need for accommodation.

Food may be served during some library programs; contact us if you have questions or concerns.

Library events may be photographed and recorded for promotional materials for the City of Staunton and City-approved third parties.

Book Donation Day

2026 Donations will be accepted at Christ Lutheran Church at 2807 North Augusta Street on designated days and the book sale will be held there on October 11-16.  Please be sure to leave your donations with a Friend's volunteer on the designated collection days and we will make sure they are put to good use! Just a reminder, the library requests that you do NOT leave donated materials at the library or in the outside drop boxes. This causes a number of issues for the library staff.

Donations that we cannot accept: 

  • Items with missing/torn covers, water damage, mildew or loose pages
  • Reader's Digest Condensed Books and Time Life
  • Encylopedias
  • Magazines or Periodicals
  • VHS/Cassettes of any kind
  • Travel Books
  • Foreign Language Materials
  • Items older than 5 years in these subjects: medical & health, and computer and technology manuals
