Construction is complete on the new Staunton Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court located at the former Chestnut Hills Shopping Center (AKA the old Big Lots), located in Staunton's West End.

The project finished on schedule and the contractor delivered the building to the city before the Nov. 1 deadline. The facility opened for its first official day of business on Dec. 15, 2025.

What's Next? 

The city will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony open to the public on Thursday, Dec. 18 from 4-6 p.m.

City staff are also continuing planning efforts for the remainder of the site. Work is underway with a consultant to develop a conceptual design for future use of the surrounding property, supporting the long-term vision for revitalizing the area.
